Kaitie leaned back against a tree as she relaxed outside, though the weather would make it seem as if anything other than relaxing. It was a fine temperature, but the sky was filled with dark clouds creating a feeling as if it was going to rain. Kaitie didn't care though, she had gone out to escape being at school, and constantly being reminded of her past among other things, like her parents wanting her to be smart and graduate and then go to college, and then the people that knew her sister Jessica Dylan, and then of course her parents thought she would be like depressed so they were trying to send her to a grief counselor.
Kaitie let out a sigh as she crossed her arms over her chest. She was watching people as they passed by, and at the same time she was avoiding any social contact with people. Though she wanted to be someone at school, her past was something she wanted to keep out of the spotlihgt, but something had too give, since she was not going to give up on anything. She ran her fingers through her brown hair and looked over her outfit. It was so simple, so it was no wonder why she had gon unnoticed more recently. She was wearing a pair of dar fitted jeans, and a simple gray jacket over a white tank top.
It used to be that on any day like this, you would find Kaitie on the beach, hanging out, or something, but in the past year so much had happened, and she didn't feel like her old self. Of course she was still the same when people saw her, and she didn't express anything about how she really felt, but people who really knew her would have noticed these changes, but she didnt ever get to know people when she lived there to have anyone notice the changes in her lfie. Now she was simply sitting and relaxing in the california weather.

A man of many words was not Jack Roland. A man of many actions, eh. He was six foot two and would be basketball captain if not for his "suspension" two years ago for something he kinda sorta did and didn't do. His reputation was that of the rebel, bad boy, the criminal. Okay, he didn't steal anything or do drugs, but he could fit the persona pretty well. Or so he was told. Walking around the field with nothing to do, was pretty boring. The stupid gossip site run by somebody had given him the nickname Rebel. Two years ago it fit perfectly and now it fit just as perfectly. But he didn't fit into everyone's picture perfectness. The Elites wanted him dead. The Headmaster wanted him gone. Hell, he didn't want to be here either. He would rather be at home doing whatever the hell he wanted to then by trapped in this lame place. But it wasn't to be so. There was no way Jack was getting out here until graduation. He'd been in and out of the hospital a few times in the past few years. His most recent trip being him collasping in detention. And then finding out he was bi-polar and breaking is counselor's jaw. Now that part had been funny.
Seeing someone sitting under a tree not far away, he walked over. He was wearing a pair of faded blue jeans with a black polo and a pair of black Puma's. He'd allowed his hair to grow long again so that it fell over his eyes. Shaking his shaggy blonde hair from his eyes so that they revealed blue eyes, he leaned against the tree where the girl sat. She was pretty, but he, gay cliche as it was, was in love with the soon to be Queen Bee of the school. Or rather Queen D. Dyllan Leahway. Correction. Not Queen D, but plain old Dyllan Leahway. They'd been dating when he'd first started going to Callahan. But broke up shortly before he was "suspended". Then when he'd come back, she'd been dating Austin James. But they had broken up a few days before Jack was in the hospital which was two or three days ago. California tanned skin glowed softly in the sunlight until he moved into the shade. Lowering himself so that he sat beside the girl he said, Hope you don't mind my sitting here with you. I'm Jack. Letting his bangs fall back into his eyes, Jack stared out over the field tiredly. Who could sleep when you were on this crap medicine that kept you awake.

Kaitie fooled around with the zipper on her jacket out of boredom, as she let her eyes gaze out across the field. She was simply sitting there bored out of her mind, as she noticed another figure approach the tree, seeing as she was so dressed down, she wouldn't have been surprised if someone didn't even notice her sitting there, so it came as a surprise to her when he sat down an actually acknowledged her existence. Since her coming to Callahan no one had really noticed her, which she sometimes appreciated because she had an interesting past, but it wasn't that bad or anything at all. "Yeah, I don't mind," Kaitie said shrugging her shoulders slightly. "I'm Kaitie," she said, seeing as he told her his name, she might as well introduce herself. She looked over in his direction when he had sat down, just to look at who she was talking to. Of course Kaitie didn't necessarily look at guys and judge their looks as much as she had in the past, but even she had to admit, he was wasn't bad looking or anything, and she didn't care, because it seemed to her like every person in the state of California had found someone. Her mom had found a new boyfriend, and her dad was probably marrying another woman for the money again, and it seemed as if the school was no different, there were couples evrywhere.

Nodding, Jack looked at her. Flashing her a smile that stood out against his California tan, he said, Nice to meet you Kaitie. Are you new here? She was pretty and Jack would definately date her if he and Dyllan weren't trying figure things out between them. He probably look like some guy off of a Aeropostale, American Eagle, or Abercrombie and Fitch advertisment. Real California tan, beach blonde hair, tall, muscled, blue-eyed. A stereotype that Jack didn't like being compared to. Drawing his knees up, he stretched his arms over them as he looked at the opposite end of the field for a few minutes before turning and looking back at Kaitie. He knew how she felt. He'd moved here from the South a few months before he started as a freshmen. But he'd found his place here. For two years before being expelled.
Shaking his bangs out his eyes, he looked up at the ends as they flipped up. The sleeves of his polo stretched upwards, the bottom of a tattoo being revealed. He had a few. The first because he'd done it to screw his parents. The second for something that had happened. His third tattoo across his right bicep and it was a simple pattern of over-lapping curving lines. The first was a cross that took up most of his back. The second was on his left bicep and read crown of thorns. Tilting his head back for a moment, Jack closed his eyes. He hadn't had much sleep since he got out of the hospital a few days ago. Mostly because of those stupid pills he had to take to control his Bi-polar disorder.

Kaitie smiled back simply out of courtesy, seeing as she didn't seem like the happiest of people all the time. She glanced down noticing the tattoo. She had thought about getting one multiple times, but every time she decided not to because she knew that her parents wouldn't care, and that was usually her motives for things was to get them to at least notice they had another daughter now, who was back, even though she never visited her mom's appartment, and she refused to see her dad since he got remarried, so she spent most her time simply hanging around the school and the town, like she was at the moment, looking for something to do.
She listened to his question as she looked up once more at the sky, letting her eyes wander around. "Yeah, I used to go to a school on the east coast, but my family was here, so I decided to come back here for a while," Kaitie replied, looking back over in his direction. "So I am guessing you have been around here for a while then?" she asked, makign simple conversation to pass the time she usually spent doing absolutely nothing worth her time, so it was at least something other than sitting around and doing nothing liike she did most of the time.

Jack studied Kaitie for a moment. She was beautiful, yet she seemed a little sad for some reason. What has you down? Callahan turning out to be like every other boarding school? He asked. Shaking his bangs out of his blue eyes, he ran a hand over his face tiredly. A stretch of faded pink skin along his left arm stood out from his tan skin. The wrist to elbow length scar was probably the only visible scar from two years ago. Rolling his arm slightly, he looked at it. Shaking his head slightly, Jack let his arm roll back and hang off his knees as he relaxed. Leaning back against the tree, he picked at a strand on the knees of his blue jeans.
Looking over at her as she answered his question, Jack nodded. You miss the east coast? He asked after she finished. Going back to fiddling with his jeans, he looked up again as she asked something else. Since a few months before my freshmen year. You're a junior I'm guessing? You'll find your place at Callahan soon enough. I have to find my place again. Jack said with a soft shrug. Jack's blue eyes looked at her for a few minutes before looking back at his hands. It was better then sitting around his dorm room sulking or hanging out on the beach or the gym.

"I don't exactly think one boarding school is different from another, ever," Kaitie replied looking off at the field once again as she rolled up the sleeves of her jacket. She was truly avoiding the question of what had her so down, seeing as she was not going to troublw someone else with her family issues, and everything else that was going on in her life at the moment, seeing as nothing could get worse than her current state of being a nobody, and moving to a new school in her junior year of high school. She looked back over at him with his next question, as he eyes glanced at the scar on his arm, but she ignore it.
"I never actually liked the east coast, it is just weird being back in California all of the sudden," Kaitie said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. "And by saying you have to find your place again, I am guessing you were gone for some reason?" Kaitie asked, simply out of her own curiosity, not necessarily out of prying for information like she knew some people to do, like most of the people at her old school. She adjusted the way her back was leaning against the tree, as the ground began to be not the most comfortable place to sit.

Grinning, Jack looked out from under his bangs and across the field. I think they get worse everywhere you go. He realized that she hadn't answered the question, but didn't pursue it. It wasn't his business. He was turning into one of those lame, nosy boys that he hated. Little by-the-book boys. Everyone had their problems at Callahan. Cutting being one of them. Jack got to be bipolar and like pyscho or whatever when he got pissed off. Blue eyes darkened slightly at the thought, but lightened quickly as he thought about Dyllan. He needed to go see her later today. Running a hand over his face tiredly, he leaned back against the tree and closed his eyes for a moment.
I know how you feel. Sorta. I'm a southern boy up until four or five years ago. I've never been to California before then. Jack said with a grin and a shrug. Yeah. California is a messed up place. They only show you all the wonderful things like Disney Land or is it World? And all the pretty people and beaches and so on. Jack said, not necessarily clarifying anything at all. Opening his eyes, Jack felt his neck pop as he moved his head. Reaching back, he rubbed the base of his neck with his hand. If I tell you whats wrong with me, will you tell me what has you upset? Not that I'm nosy or anything, just curious. I won't tell anyone, promise.

Kaitie wasn't exactly, and didn't exactly consider herself your average California girl. She had spent most of her life trying to make her own image for herself, since for the first thirteen years of her life she lived in her sister's shadow, but everything changes when your family loses all of their money and ship you away to the other side of the country. Either way, it seemed like anywhere you go, everyone has their own problems, they were always different. "Only problem with those pictures is the pretty people don't really exist and everyone has something they're hiding," Kaitie stated.
Kaitie had to consider the thought of actually telling someone something about herself as she usually kept her life more private, but her mind continued through thoughts for a moment, to come up with a decision. "I will only tell, only if you tell me first," Kaitie finally answered him. Kaitie wasn't really the sharing type of person most of the time, seeing as she usually kept most of her life to herself, and most of the time she would keep it this way, but at the moment she didn't care if she actually told someone what was wrong, seeing as she actually though it may make her feel better to at least say something about what was going on in her life.

Jack looked back at Kaitie as she replied. Nodding his head, he looked at Kaitie. There are no pretty people. Everyone just wants to look pretty and fit everyone else's idea of what pretty is. He said with a shrug. Running a hand over his face, Jack leaned back against the tree. Even the rough bark felt good against the back of the young male. Blonde hair fell back from his face. Closing his blue eyes for a moment, Jack just listened to the sound of the city not so far away, but seeming so so far away. He hadn't felt this peaceful in a long time. Well a few times since then. Mostly when he was with Dyllan and didn't have to be focused on something.
Jack grinned slightly as she agreed as long as he went first. Shaking his hair so that it fell into his eyes again, Jack looked at Kaitie. Alright I will. But if you get freaked out and take off running or something, I won't mind. Looking out over the field for a moment, he blinked a few times before going on. So two years ago I was the big basketball star at Callahan. I was also a known rebel so I didn't run with the elites. That was my sophomore year. Then some guy from another school started stalking my little sister or something and he and I got into a fight. He pulled a knife, got me once or twice and then somehow I was covered in blood and he was dead. So the headmaster had me suspended indefinitately. In my absence a rumor went around that I raped some girl or something like that. Thats my big secret. Jack said, finishing off with a slight shrug. Leaning back again, he closed his eyes for a few moments before opening them and looking at her. What no running away and screaming or making an excuse that you have to go somewhere? He asked, not teasing at all.

Kaitie’s light green eyes glistened in the California sun, as she looked up at the sky. One thing she could never get tired of in California was the constant sun, or at least it was sunny most of the time, which was a nice change from the east coast. It took her a moment to listen to him, but she was not going to run or anything like that. “I don’t think I am just going to run off or anything, besides, I made a deal anyway,” Kaitie replied, turning away to think of a way to phrase her side of it all, seeing as she never talked about what was going on in her life.
“In the past six months, my boyfriend jumped off a cliff and I held myself responsible, because I was there, then I came back here, where my sister got in a car crash and died after she graduated, so I kind of never got over it, and that is what has me so upset right now,” Kaitie answered looking back in his direction once she had finished saying it all. She usually didn’t talk about it because she felt responsible for her boyfriend dying, since she was the one who had the idea of drinking on the beach, and she had neglected the fact that they were both drunk, which made everything even worse.
